Andrea Bottalico obtained a Ph.D. in Economic Sociology and Labour Studies in 2018 at the University of Milan within NASP – Network for the Advancement in Social and Political studies, Graduate School in Social and Political Sciences. With a visiting period at the University of Antwerp, he conducted a comparative analysis on port labour systems in Italy and Belgium, focusing on employment relations and working conditions in the maritime-logistics chain.

In 2018-2019 he worked at the University of Florence in the European project NETWIR – Networked Coordination of Industrial Relations. Understanding Collective Bargaining Coordination – with a focus on the retail sector. In 2019-2020, Andrea conducted at the University of Milan a research study funded from the trade union CGIL on self-employed workers’ representation in the financial sector. His research focuses on industrial relations and ethnographies of work, with a focus on logistics, global supply chains, and self-employment.

As member of the SHARE team, he worked as postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Milan. He is currently assistant professor at the Department of Social Sciences, University of Naples.
