Petr Mezihorák graduated in Political Science and Economic Policy and gained his PhD degree in Sociology at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. During his studies, he also spent visiting periods as an exchange student at the Institut d’études politiques de Bordeaux, as a visiting researcher at Grazer Schumpeter Centre in Graz, and as an intern at the European Trade Union Institute in Brussels. He finished his PhD studies in 2018. His PhD research focused on the transformation of labour process related to the relocation of selected activities from workplaces located in home countries of two multinational banks to shared services centres located in Central and Eastern Europe.
As a member of the SHARE team, he worked as postdoctoral researcher at the Work and Employment Relations Division of the Leeds University Business School (June 2018 – January 2019) and at the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Milan (February 2019 – January 2021). In particular, he carried out ethnographic fieldworks in Slovakia and the Netherlands. While conducting the fieldwork in Slovakia, Petr was hosted at the Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI) in Bratislava, both in 2018 and 2020. In 2019, he was hosted at the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Labour Studies (AIAS). Petr is currently a researcher at the Institute for Sociology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. His current research interests include new forms of labour organising, labour law enforcement and the living conditions of refugees fleeing the Russian-Ukrainian war.
